Confidence testers

Michael Lee suggested that, since professional speakers can only charge fees that their self-esteem can bear, ProTrackers consider taking a confidence test.

I’ve just spent 15 minutes in an attempt to find a ‘Confidence’ test on this site. In my opinion, there isn’t one.

Here’s what I *did* find:

[1] The site required you create a user account at no charge.
[2] You are then presented with different categories for tests (relationships, personality, health, career). Many require you purchase a number of ‘Credits’ at a cost of $2.95 each (most tests are 2-7 credits) or pay a $14 flat monthly fee. However, there are ‘Abridged’ tests available at no charge.
[3] There are 225 tests in total. A search for ‘confidence’ did not return results, but I did find an abridged (i.e Free) ‘Assertiveness test’. This asked a list of rather obvious questions such as:

  • I feel and act self-confident. (Choose a range of answers from ‘Almost Never’ to ‘Most of the time’
  • Opinionated people make me feel uncomfortable

    • After answering 10 questions I was given a score of 78 out of 100 and a brief reading:

    According to your results on the Assertiveness Test, you seem to be doing relatively well in standing up for yourself. In most day-to-day situations, you possess the necessary skills and inner-confidence to tell others what you need, think or want. There may be the occasional moment, however, when you find yourself hesitating to declare your view on things. Why not take some steps to improve your ability to stand up for yourself, since you’ve already mastered the basics? You have nothing to lose, but plenty to gain.

    Ho hum….

    Be interested to hear from anyone who ponies up $$ for the full monty and how the test results impress you – it maybe that, as with many things in life, you get what you pay for. Or it may be that, as was said by H.L. Mencken, no web site in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of plain people.

    I think I can say that with confidence.

    The test you want is the self-esteem quiz. If you’ll recall I said, “The amount of your fee is directly proportional to your level of self-esteem.”

    I stand corrected by Michael. Searching for ‘Esteem’ revealed the ‘Abridged Self-Esteem test’. However,I found the questions rather ho-hum, example:

    I will never amount to anything significant.

    Strongly disagree
    Disagree
    Somewhat agree
    Agree
    Strongly agree

    Guess what you need to answer for ‘high self-esteem?

    My ‘reading’ was an 88 with the following analysis:

    According to this test, you have very high self-esteem. You recognize your inner value and it shows in your personal life, relationships and career/school success. You exude confidence, which is very attractive, and believe enough in yourself to pursue things whole-heartedly. Such a healthy self-esteem allows you to “be yourself”, handle stress effectively and maintain an overall sense of well-being. You should value and nurture this quality; it will get you far in life. Way to go!
